Chapter 1 to my DH story by ~Soloraven:iconSoloraven:

CHAPTER 1

3 years passed

Kitty was doing paper work at her desk, when there was a knock on the door.
“Hey ya boss.” Jeff said through the door.
“Ya, Jeff.” she said looking up from her paper work. She sat back in the leather bound chair and took a sip of her coffee. It was early in the afternoon and they had a few hours before the door opened to the general public. “Come in.” she said.
He opened the door slowly to reveal his normal attire of faded blue jeans and a white t-shirt to show off his muscle bound biceps. His sandy blonde hair hung loosely across his shoulders.
“Someone is here to see you boss.”
“Hmm... it is awful early to have visitors.”
He shrugged. “I don’t know boss.” he said in his deep voice. “I am just the bouncer.” he smiled flashing his teeth.
Kitty chuckled, “You are more than just a bouncer.” she flashed him a sexy smile.
“Ya ya...” he chuckled. “Shhh...” he said holding his large finger to his lips. “Don’t tell anyone.” he winked.
She laughed seeing the large man wink at her.
“Anyways.” he said clearing his throat. “A female is here, and she says she is family?” he questioned. “I thought all your family is dead.”
“They are.” she gritted her teeth standing up. She couldn’t believe the pack had found her. She was cautious on covering her tracks. How could they have found her scent.
“Oh, sister dear I believe I am much alive.” said a small woman walking into the room. Her hair was black as a raven’s feather. Her skin just as pale as Kitty’s and she was about 4 inches shorter than Kitty but her features were very curvy and petite. She wore a low cut red blouse and a black mini skirt. She also wore deep red stiletto heels that matched her finger nails.
“What do you want Lona?” she said showing her fangs in anger at her younger sister.
“Tsk tsk tsk...” she said shaking her head and pointing her finger at Kitty. “Is that any way to treat a litter mate, let alone a pack mate?” she smirked. She wiggled her way into the room passed Jeff. She made sure her little curves worked to her advantage and it was noticeable that Jeff was aroused.
“Uh...” he said shaking his head. “Is there anything else that I can do, boss?”
“Hmm... no.” Kitty said softly. “I can handle her.”
“Sure boss.” he said smiling and shutting the door behind him.
“What do you want Lona?” she asked again.
Lona walked closer to Kitty, and took a seat in front of her.
“I did not invite you to sit down.” Kitty said.
“You know why I am here.” she said crossing her legs. More flesh was flashed as the skirt went higher on her thigh.
Kitty gritted her teeth. “I don’t want anything to do with the pack.”
“Oh, no sister dear.” she smiled seductively. “You can not just give up the pack like that.”
“Can you not see I am busy enough?” she sighed heavily.
“I guess you will have to give it all up.” she smiled. “You are a panther after all, and the Alpha of the females.”
“Why are you doing this? You don’t even want me to come back.”
“Your right I don’t but...” she said bitterly her face twisting up in anger for a flash of a second.
Kitty raised her eye brow at her sister.
“You need to come back and mate with the Alpha male to have a successor to our pack. You know to have our breed to continue we need the Alpha’s of the pack to continue with an Heir and mate with others to procreate.”
Kitty shook her head at her sister’s words.
“That is why you will never get the mark of the mate.” she smirked at her sister.
“I pass over the alpha title to you.” she said bitterly.
Lona clucked her tongue at her.
“You know the only way to pass on the Alpha title is to be challenged and then the Alpha dies.”
Kitty’s nails dug deep into the oak desk, leaving marks. She knew who ever would challenge her would die, since she was the strongest.
“Or...” she chuckled. “If the Alpha were to become mated.”
“You know that is not possible!” she spat. “Not in our entire existence of our pack was an Alpha mated.”
“Well...” she laughed out loud standing up. “It could happen.”
“Get the hell OUT!” she spat, her face twisting up into anger.
“What ever you say, sister of mine.” she chuckled at her. “I am staying at the Radisson downtown. Here is my number to my cell phone. Contact me in 3 days or the pack will be out for blood.” she said leaving her card on the edge of the desk.
“GET OUT!” Kitty screamed, her energy vibrating through out the room.
“I am going, I am going.” she said sashaying out of the office.
Kitty sighed heavily as she sank back down into her chair. She knew the rules of the pack. The Alpha’s assume their responsibility or they were slaughtered and the pack ate their remains. Kitty shuttered, and racked her brain on what to do. Her only way out was to become ‘mated’. Which was impossible, in the history of forever none of the Alpha’s got mated.
“Agghhh...” she screamed in frustration. Kitty picked up the card on the desk and stuffed it into the drawer. “I will think about this later. I have work I have to do.” she said bitterly picking up her paper work again.

Adaira came into the large livingroom, and sat down on the leather couch eating a bowl of popcorn. She flipped on the 65 inch plasma tv and sighed heavily.
“Another night of boredom.” she said stuffing a handful of popcorn into her mouth.
“Well if you went out and did something then it would not be so boring.” Arthur said coming into the room.
“Ya, ya.” she said waving her hand trying not to look at him. He just shook his head at her.
“Well if the council didn’t put me in the frozen tundra then maybe I would do some more things out doors. You know I am not partial to the cold.”
“I know.” he chuckled remembering what she looked like when she went out last. She wore 3 layers of clothes plus a coat, almost as if she were a walking Pillsbury Dough Boy, but only female.
“Bah... get that thought outta your head Arthur, it was COLD!” she sniffled reading his mind. “I am still getting over the cold I got from it.”
“Ya, I know. I am sorry...” he said coming into the livingroom. He was wrapped in only a towel as he just got up and out of a shower. He had a gorgeous body from his head to his toe. He looked as if he were carved out of marble. His wet hair dangling over his shoulders in waves, looking like delicious dark tendrils of chocolate to tease a females skin.
“Paaaaleeeessseeee put some clothes ON!” she hissed trying not to think of him like that. “You are making me cold just looking at YOU!” she said shivering to prove her point. He chuckled looking at her bundled in a turtle neck, and sweatshirt.
“I have no idea how you can be so cold Ada.” he shook his head. “It is 75 degree’s in the house.”
“It would be set a LOT higher if I had my way.” she pouted.
He laughed. “And the house would melt if you had it at the temperature you wanted it at.”
“True,” she smiled “they say your blood will thicken too, and well I have been here for over a century and it still hasn’t gotten any thicker.”
“Maybe that is because...” he started.
She held up her hand to ignore him.
He stopped speaking and turned away to walk back into his room.
“Dinner... er breakfast is on the table for you Arthur...” she called after him.
“Why don’t you come out with me tonight Ada?” he said peaking his head out from his door. He was almost completely dressed for the evening.
“Oh, ya... hunting down soul sucking daimons in Hades that has frozen over, sounds like a fun evening to me.” she said sarcastically flipping through the 500 channels on the TV.
“Well, we can go dancing first.” he chimed in.
“Oh, boy!” she twirled her finger in the air.
“Come on, Ada you need to get outta this house.”
“I go out when the sun is up.” she said in her own defense.
“I forgot the sun warms you up.”
“You didn’t forget.” she said standing up and sticking her tongue out in his direction.
“I know.” he said coming out of the room. He was dressed in a black silk Armani suit. His brown hair was pulled back into a tight pony tail. His dark eyes almost glowed in the darkness down the hall. “I was just trying to get you to change your mind and come out and play.” he smiled. “You never know I might need your help tonight.” he chuckled walking into the kitchen.
She took a deep breath at the sight of him. He was gorgeous.“Ya right.” she said softly. “You don’t ever need my help. Unless of course it is to make your dinners.”
“Thank you by the way.” he said eating the steak and eggs set out for him.
“Your welcome.” she sighed.
“It looks like you have changed your mind.” he smiled at her reading her thoughts. “You are going to go out with me after all.”
“Fine, fine... but when I am sick and stuck in my bed you are going to feel my wraith.”
He laughed whole heartily at her. “When don’t I feel your wraith, Adaira?”
“Shush, you.” she smiled flashing into a sexy gothic outfit. It was form fitting showing off her curves and her long brown hair fell across her shoulders. Her mystic tattoo was visible that trailed from the base of the left side of her neck and trailed down to her hip. It looked as if it were a tribal tattoo, but those who knew it recognized it as the sign of a Sentinel.
“You look beautiful.” he said softly his voice almost caught in his throat at the sight of her.
“When don’t I?” she winked at him.
“So true, so true.” he said putting his dishes away into the dishwasher.
“Don’t worry with that.” she said snapping her fingers and flashing the dishes out of his hands and put them away clean.
“I will never get used to that.” he smirked.
“Your right, probably not.”
“Shall we head out?” he said holding out his arm to her.
“Sure.” she smiled flashing on a heavy duty leather trench coat.
“Nope... I wont get used to that.” he shook his head.
She just looked up at him and smiled.

They arrived at Blood Lust a little passed 9 o clock. The place just opened and people were entering the club.
“Hey Jeff, anything exciting happening tonight?” Adaira said to him in a sing song voice.
“Ada?” he chuckled. “Now aren’t you a sight for sore eyes. You are the last person I thought I would see tonight.” He said opening the velvet red banister, to hold back the people waiting to get inside.
“You know him?” Arthur asked her quietly.
“Who is the man with you?” he said sniffing the air.
“A friend, Jeff.” she said touching his shoulder slightly. “Don’t worry.”
He laughed slightly. “Me worry about you! HA... I know you can take care of yourself.”
She just smiled at him. Adaira was able to cloak their identities from others. So they could stay hidden in the shadows to hunt the Daimons.
“Have fun you two.” He said watching them head in.
Arthur just laughed.
“What?” she said looking up at him.
“Oh, nothing.” he smirked.
“Bah.” she said giving him a raspberry. “Here we can put our coats in the office. I know the owner.” she said taking his hand to head towards the office. The music was loud, the music almost coursing throughout your veins.
Arthur stopped sensing daimons in the club.
“What? What is wrong?” she said looking at him. She knew that look, he sensed daimons about. “Sheesh, they are early tonight. We don’t even get to dance?” she pouted up at him.
“Stay here.” Arthur said heading towards the group of daimons he saw across the club. The daimons saw Arthur coming towards them and they start to scramble.
“Like hell I will.” she said. “Wait.” she grabbed his arm.
“What are you doing?” he said watching them escape through the back door.
“We can not fight in here.” she said pointing towards the ancient carved sign that said ‘Don’t start shit or you become shit.’
“You seriously think they would care if I rid the world of a few daimons.”
“If it is in my club, yes.” Kitty said appearing behind them.
“Hello Kitty.” Adaira smiled up at her. “Where is Chocco Cat?” she giggled.
“What?” she said looking at her bitterly.
Adaira just tried not to smile at her as her little pun went over the cat’s head.
“If you ladies excuse me.” Arthur said taking off towards the exit.
“No.” Kitty said grabbing Arthur’s arm.
“You will let me go.” he said looking at her and then to Adaira.
Adaira sighed heavily at the tension in the air.
“Kitty... Please let Arthur go.” Adaira said her voice full of power and magic.
Kitty let go of her grasp as she watched him rush towards the back door.
“Kitty...” she waved her hand of the tall Were-Panther. “Hello! Hello Kitty.” she said to her shaking her slightly.
“Huh? Oh... Hi Ada... you are out late tonight.” she said coming out of her trance. Adaira made sure she forgot about Arthur and his ‘mission’.
“Ya... I thought I would try to catch a cold again.” she giggled slightly.
“Heh... giving your employer a hard time again?” she smiled to her long time friend. “Speaking of... when am I ever going to meet him?” she said placing her hands on her hips.
“Ooo... someday... I am sure.” she smiled up at her. Adaira’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
“You know you could always come work for me.” she smirked. “I mean on the days he doesn’t need you.”
Adaira paused for a moment.
“He needs me everyday, Kitty.” she smiled. “Even though he doesn’t admit it.”
Kitty just laughed at her. Her honesty and sincerity in her voice made her believe her. “Have fun Ada, I am going to head back into the office. I have a lot to think about.”
“Is it anything I can help with?” she said turning to watch her leave the sound of her voice almost being drowned out by the head pounding music.
“If you can create miracles.” she said under her breath as she walked back to the office.
Kitty disappeared into the back door that lead to the office.
Adaira just shook her head slightly, knowing that Kitty had a lot on her mind. She wanted to go help her friend, but she knew Arthur would need her too. She sensed the Spathi around somewhere, and just hoped Arthur was doing alright. She started to make her way out of the club.
“You heading out so soon, Ada?” Jeff said at the door.
“It is dead right now.” she smiled to him. “I may come back in a bit, once the party starts happening.” she smiled.
“Well you are always welcome here.” he flashed her a sexy smile.
“Thank you, Wolf... that means a lot.” she said using his animal name in respect. She reached up on her tippy toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Adaira started to head into the back alley and was trying to listen for Arthur’s signature. It was as if he were cloaked.
“What the?” she said taking off faster to find out what was going on. Her trench coat billowed behind her as she ran to were she heard the fighting.
“Prepare for hell, Hunter!” the leader of the Spathi said bitterly readying to attack him again.
“Been there, done that.” said an unfamiliar males voice.
Adaira came into view to see a blonde man holding a sword, and Arthur lying on the ground. Excalibur was laying at Arthur’s feet and he was mortally wounded.
“Arthur!” Adaira screamed seeing him laying there in a heap at the blonde mans feet.
“Adaira!” The blonde man called to her. “Get him out of here. Get him safe.”
“Who?” she said in shock look at him cautiously. She went to Arthur’s side and put his head in her lap. His face was pale and his body cold as ice.
“Don’t worry about that... get him out of here.” he said readying his sword to attack the daimons. He parried a few of their attacks and came back with a few of his own. “Go NOW!” he said. “My powers are weak with him here.”
Adaira nodded as she flashed out of there, with Arthur by her side. He was stripped of his clothes and in his bed.
“Arthur...” she whispered in his ear. She kissed his forehead. She didn’t want to admit she loved him, she had been with him for a long time and she would be damned to loose him now. “Wake up, my love.” she said into his ear.
His breathing was shallow and his pulse was thready.
“Please Arthur.” she said softly rubbing her cheek against his. A single tear fell from her eye and it turned into a brilliant crystal. Adaira placed it on a silver chain and placed it around his neck. Tears were important to her breed. For they did not cry often and every tear was special in it’s own way.
She put him into a deep slumber to heal his wounds. She placed her hand on his chest, as it began to glow a deep blue. Heat began to pour out of her body and into Arthur. His color began to return to him and his breathing deepened. She knew that was all she could do for him, the rest he had to do on his own. “I love you Arthur.” she said kissing his forehead again. She knew it was safe to confess her feelings for him right now. He was the thing she loved most in this world, and yet she could not have him.
Adaira flashed back to where she had found Arthur. Her eyes glowing a deep red as she saw the Spathi Daimons fighting the blonde haired Dark-Hunter. She knew what he was now that Arthur was safe and out of the area. Two Dark-Hunters in one area battled for each other’s energy and that was why she could not sense him entirely.
“You should be with Arthur.” the blonde haired man said to her.
“You should leave, Dark-Hunter.” Adaira said, her voice full of venom as the wind began to pick up, electricity began to fill the air.
“I can handle these.” he said to her as he parried another attack from the daimon.
“Let’s get out of here!” one of them said. “Our job is done. Open the bolt hole.” and with that a bolt hole was opened and the one who spoke escaped.
“I don’t think so!” Adaira said closing her hand and taking the bolt hole away. “You think daimons would know not to mess in the affairs of dragons.” she said bitterly as her body began to change into a dragon. “You are rather tasty when roasted!” she screeched at them as the transformation was complete. She breathed fire out at one of them as it caught on fire. She reached down and ate the other one as the two left scattered. The blonde Dark-Hunter cut the one in two after he sliced him through the dark spot in the middle of his chest. The damion burst into golden dust. After the battle was done, Adaira transformed back into a human.
“Who are you?” she said turning her attention to the blonde man standing before her. Her anger still high and full of venom.
He sheathed his sword and was concerned with the fire from her breath.
“Answer me.” she snapped her fingers. “That is no worry.” she said fixing everything as it was before the fight.
He blinked slightly at her anger.
“I my dear lady, am Lancelot.” he bowed to her.
“Lancelot?” she looked at him with question. “As in Arthur’s best friend?” She never had the chance to have met him but she heard a lot about his long time friend.
“You must be his squire Adaira.” he smiled to her holding out his hand to her.
She held out her hand back and he kissed it lightly on the knuckles.
“I am very pleased to finally get to meet you my dear.” he said softly. The sound of his voice was like a warm summer’s day. Full of life an vibrant. His eyes were a striking blue, that looked as if you were starring into the deep blue ocean. “Is Arthur alright?” he asked softly.
She nodded to him.
“I was afraid I got to him to late.” Lancelot said softly.
“Come.” she said softly taking his hand. “You are welcome to stay in our home.”
“Thank you, but our powers will not be in full swing if we stay together to long.”
“They will be fine.” she said softly taking his hand and flashing him to their home.
“Wow.” he said trying to get his bearings. “That was different.”
“And you will never get used to it.” Arthur said coming into the living room.
“Arthur! You need to be resting.”  Adaira said rushing to his side. He was dressed in a pair of pajama bottoms. Her touch on his skin caused him to shiver slightly. Her magic washing over his skin as if she were hot molten liquid.
“Yes, Arthur you need to rest.” Lancelot said.
“Lance... it is good to see you again.” Arthur said walking up to his friend, and giving him a big hug.
“To long.” Lancelot said softly. “I am glad to finally have met Adaira. She is something special.” he smiled to her.
Adaira looked up at Arthur with loving eyes.
“She is... isn’t she.” Arthur said looking down at her. He wore the crystal around his neck, where she left it.
Lancelot did not question the Drakos about what she said, they were able to be in the same area for long periods of time.
“Lancelot, will be staying with us.” Adaira said softly.
Arthur nodded. “I wouldn’t have it any other way. How long will you be in town, Lance?”
Lancelot shook his head. “I am not sure to be honest, Ash sent me this way.”
“Ahhh...” Arthur nodded again walking into the living room. His wounds weren’t completely healed yet and it was sore just standing around in the hall.
“Would you like something to drink?” Adaira said walking into the kitchen. “Or eat maybe?”
“Ada is a mean cook.”
Lancelot chuckled thinking about her being mean to the daimons.
“I am full myself.” Adaira said softly. “But would you both like something?” she called in again.
“I am good thank you.” Lancelot said.
“Oh, come on.” Arthur said to his friend smacking him on the shoulder playfully. “She is really a good cook. Better than me.” he said.
“HA!” Lancelot joked with his long time friend. “Anyone is better than you Arthur. I swear I never understood how you could’ve survived this long on crap you made.”
“Hey now.” Arthur smiled. “Better watch it... I am still your King.” he smiled.
Lancelot smiled at him. “You sure are.” he said sitting down on the couch.
Adaira brought out a silver tray with an array of food on it, and two beers.
“Oh,...”Lancelot said standing in her presence.
“Sit down, Lance.” she smiled. “Eat, drink and be merry.” she said softly to him.
“Thank you.” he nodded to her as he raised the long neck bear bottle and toasted it at Arthur. “To many years of friendship, and many more.” he took a swig. “Damn this is good.” he said looking at the bottle. It wasn’t a brand he was familiar with.
“Well you boys enjoy... I must go freshen up. I have this nasty taste in my mouth that just wont go away.” she winked at Lancelot.
“You haven’t had it before.” Arthur said as he watched Adaira walk away.
“Adaira made it. I think... or how ever she does it... but what ever it is... only drink one maybe two... it will get you intoxicated.” he chuckled. His eyes homing in on Adaira’s backside. He loved to watch her curves move and he was trying to think about something else. The very thought of her was causing him to get hard.
“Well I will have to tell her it is damn good.” he said. “Even though I can drink with the best of them, I have a feeling you may be right with only having one.”
“She makes them special for each person... I think.” he laughed turning his attention to his friend. “So tell me... how have you been?” Arthur asked.
“I’ve been doing well.” Lancelot started.
